Ancestors of William Theodore Proctor

Notes

2. Daniel Robert Proctor

At age 20 in 1850 census, he's living in the home of James Sandiford, in or near
Savannah, GA.

From the 1860 U.S. census, in Georgia:

212 D.R. Proctor 29 m Farmer 500 1720 Camden County .
A.E.27 f . . . South Carolina .
S.T.7 f . . . Camden County .
J.C.5 m . . . Camden County .
J.J.3 m . . . Camden County .

I don't know why William Theodore Proctor doesn't show up in that list as a 1-or-2-year old child.
A.E. is Anne Eugenia Sandiford Proctor, Daniel Robert Proctor's wife. S.T. is presumably
Sarah Gertrude Proctor, J.C. is James Cummings Proctor, and J.J. is Julian Joseph Proctor.

The following is probably W.T. Proctor, as a 1-year old, living with another nearby family, but I don't
know why:

215 L.A. Holzendorf 42 m Planter 2500 13737 Camden County .
S.S.30 f . . . Camden County .
M.A.14 f . . . Camden County .
C.D.12 f . . . Camden County .
R.R.8 m . . . Camden County .
W.J. Proctor1 m . . . Camden County .

In the October 4, 1882, election, he ran for State Representative against
a black schoolteacher, Anthony Wilson. Proctor won the election, by
hiding ferry boats in order to delay the delivery of the black votes
until after the deadline. Wilson challenged the election and Proctor's
victory was overturned.
